Final Report

Thousands of visitors from all over the world came to this year's Yarn Expo - the specialised business platform for the yarn and fibre industry. Exhibitors, delighted at the number and quality of visitors attending the show, view it as the essential place to promote yarn and fibres in China. A total of 66 companies chose to exhibit at Yarn Expo, which ran concurrently with the leading apparel fabrics' show in Asia — Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics. Over 52,000 visitors from 97 countries and regions attended the two fairs over four days — over 18% were from overseas.

First time exhibitors Carolina Mills, based in the USA, were thrilled with their success at the show. Benjamin T Burde, Director of International Operations at Carolina Mills, said: "China is where a third of the world's textiles are made so we need to be in the supply chain here. The show is excellent; we are very happy and very glad that we attended. It was a great decision. If you’re in textiles then you must be here."

Exhibitors Nilit from Israel chose to come because they wanted to meet Chinese and Taiwanese buyers.  Anyellet Zinger, Area Sales Manager, said: “We find it really useful to attend Yarn Expo. It’s a great opportunity to meet both existing and new customers and we’ve managed to achieve new business here. Many manufacturers have moved to the Chinese Mainland. China is the future and we cannot ignore that. We will come back next year, as this show is part of our ongoing exhibition plan.”

Mr. Zheng Yu, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Zhengjia Milk Fiber Technology Co from China, describes this show as one not to be missed. Mr Yu said: "This trade show is our main marketing tool to promote our products.  We have a very strict standard for choosing trade shows. We attend every year, there's no way that we would miss this show. It has deep and large impact in the Asian textile industry. The quality of the visitors is pretty good and we’ve met more international customers this year."

Mr. Rudolf Hehl of Rieter Machine Works in Switzerland sees many advantages of exhibiting at Yarn Expo. Mr. Hehl, said: "We've had lots of meetings with potential customers who are very interested in our products. As a company offering machines that produce yarns and fibres, we are here to help our existing clients promote their products, which are made using our machines. So, as well as promoting our own company, Yarn Expo is a good platform for us to help our customers look for new clients, which helps us to build good relationships with them."

Yarn Expo now takes place twice a year. The next show will be held in Spring at the China World Trade Centre, Beijing, China 22 — 24 March 2007. Yarn Expo is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry — CCPIT, the China Cotton Textile Association, China Wool Textile Association, China Chemical Fiber Association, China Bast & Leaf Fibers Textiles Association and the China Textile Information Centre.
